CUBE SEAT is a floor seat designed to be placed anywhere as one lounges on the floor. The wooden frame features slots on the top and bottom through which the fabric seat can be threaded and adjusted. The stuffed, adjustable fabric sling allows the user to customize the seat for comfort.
Cube Seat reimagines a familiar gesture from my own upbringing: sitting close to the ground. Formed by a wooden frame and an adjustable fabric sling, the piece creates an adaptable enclosure that can be carried and placed anywhere. There is an echo of traditions of floor living found across many cultures, and a reminder of how the body remembers ways of being long after leaving the places where those habits were formed. The act of threading, tightening, and adjusting the sling becomes a small ritual of care, a way of shaping one’s own comfort in changing environments.
